Yoga Nidra is also known as "yogic sleep" because this practice seeks to accomplish two goals: achieve deep relaxation while simultaneously meditating without slipping into sleep and remaining fully conscious. When asleep, we lose track of ourselves; however, in Yoga Nidra, where the consciousness of the world is dim and relaxation is deep, there remains an inward lucidity and awareness of physical and mental sensations or experiences.


This is the deepest possible form of relaxation and may reduce the autonomic symptoms of anxiety such as headaches, tension, chest…
