Service Description

Qi Gong (Pronounced ChEE-Gong) is a gentle, meditative movement practice that weaves together breath, awareness, and slow, intentional motion to cultivate vital energy (Qi) and support the body’s natural healing intelligence. Rooted in ancient Chinese traditions and influenced by Shaolin martial arts developed by Bodhidharma, Qi Gong has been practiced for centuries to build resilience, restore balance, and promote longevity. In this class, you’ll be guided through low-impact, flowing movements designed to calm the nervous system, release tension, and improve circulation, mobility, and mental clarity. The practice is approachable and adaptable, making it ideal for those new to Qi Gong as well as experienced practitioners seeking a more restorative and mindful experience. All levels welcome—no prior experience needed. What are the Eight Brocades Movements? The Eight Brocades Movements, also known as Ba Duan Jin, is one of the most popular Qi Gong practices, dating back nearly 1,000 years to the Song Dynasty in China. Qi Gong (pronounced “Chee Gong”) is an ancient form of exercise that combines mindful movement, meditation, and breathing techniques. You may be familiar with Tai Chi, the most well-known form of Qi Gong. The Eight Brocades is currently the second most widely practiced form of Qi Gong worldwide. As the name suggests, this practice consists of eight distinct movements, often referred to as the Eight Brocades of Silk due to the smooth, flowing, and graceful quality of each movement. The Eight Brocades were originally developed by General Yue Fei as a form of exercise for his soldiers, designed to cultivate strength, flexibility, and vitality.
